Welcome to Building Blocks! To help you speed up your workflow and stay in the creative zone, here is a quick list of all the essential keyboard shortcuts you can use in the software:

  • [Space bar] Play / Stop
  • [Tab] Switch between shown / hidden
  • [S] Submit a patch and go to the next patch

Mouse Edit Modes: 

  • [N] Note: Draw, select, or move individual notes on the grid.
  • [E] Erase: Remove any notes you click on. 
  • [B] Brush: Quickly "paint" a continuous string of notes across the grid in a single swipe.
  • [M] Multi: Select and edit multiple notes at the same time.
  • [V] Velocity: Adjust how hard or loud an individual note is played.
  • [X] Expression: Edit expression parameters of notes.

Transport (control bar in trainer/compose challenges):

  • [Enter] : Rewind to start (Same as [R] - the “next” behaviour is commented out)
  • [R] : Rewind to start.
  • [L] : Toggle Loop.
  • [A] : Toggle “restart on play” (PlayRestart).

 Grid Editing (MIDI editor):

  • [Delete/Backspace] : Delete selected notes.
  • [Left Arrow/Right Arrow] :  Scroll the grid left and right by jump.
  • [1] : Zoom to 1 bar. 
  • [2] : Zoom to 2 bars. (ignore if the session is only 1 bar)
  • [0] : Zoom to All.
  • [F] : Set the loop range to the visible measures. 
  • [Cmd+C/Cmd+V (Mac) . Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V (Windows)] : Copy/Paste highlighted notes.
