If upon opening Syntorial you get a "[Username] is missing" message, this is because your user file is missing. To resolve this:

Mac/Windows

By default, your user file is stored in your Documents/Syntorial folder, unless you stored it somewhere else. Try selecting the "Load" option and navigate there.

If you don't see it there, select the New option. Reach out to us via the Contact Us button at the top of this page. Attach your new user file to your message, and let us know where you previously left off, and we'll fast forward your progress back to that lesson.

NOTE: If you're seeing the "[Username] is missing" message immediately after creating a new one, this may be due to your system deleting the Documents/Syntorial folder. So, instead try creating a new user again but store it somewhere else.

iPad

Your progress is either stored locally or in Dropbox.

Dropbox

This will be stored in whatever Dropbox folder you previously chose, so you'll have to hunt around Dropbox to find it.

Local

There are no "folders" and the user files are all stored internally in one place. So if you're getting this message you may have just moved from a different device. We recommend going back to your previous device, moving your progress to Dropbox, and then loading your progress from Dropbox on the new app. See: How do I sync my progress between devices?
